Key Announcements related to Smart Cities Mission
Ministry of Urban Development has announced Smart Cities Challenge Round 3 Winning Cities. 30 Cities representing 21 States/Union Territories have been selected in this round to embark on the journey of transforming into Smart Cities.
Following is the summary of state wise total cities selected under Smart Cities Challenge (Round 1, Fast-Track, Round 2 & 3).
- Tamil Nadu tops with 10 winning cities followed by Maharashtra with 8 winning cities
- 32 States/Union Territories have 1 or more cities selected
- Cities from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu have been consistent in performing better compared to other states
- Government of India announces the list of 30 winning cities in Round 3 of the Smart Cities Challenge
