NIUA organized and conducted the first phase of the Swachh Bharat Mission Solid Waste Management Exposure Workshops from May 2nd to October 20th 2016 at United Services Institution of India (USI), New Delhi, in twelve training cum exposure workshops, in which about 20 participantswere trained in every workshop. NIUA also organized and conducted the second phase of the training cum exposure workshops from May 15th to 27th October 2017, with each batch having about 35 participants on an average. A total of 224 participants in Phase I and 423 participants in Phase II, a total of 647 participants were trained during these workshops. Officials and elected representatives from different Municipal Corporations, Municipalities, Nagar Palikas, Nagar Parishads, Non-Government Organizations (NGOs) and Resident Welfare Associations (RWAs) involved in Solid Waste Management were invited for a five day workshop wherein they were given presentations pertaining to innovative approaches to Solid Waste Management (SWM).They were also exposed to practical knowledge through field visits to demonstrate various centralized and decentralized waste management technologies in and around Delhi and the NCR.
