Urban Framework

This document sets out a framework to support and guide WaterAid and its partners to develop effective strategies for their urban programmes. The framework is derived directly from the WaterAid Global Strategy 2009-2015 and provides more detail regarding the driving principles and minimum commitments that WaterAid will follow globally with respect to its work in urban areas.

The urban framework:

• Sets out an understanding of urban poverty and services (Part 2)
• Describes the key urban challenges and opportunities (Part 3)
• Sets out WaterAid’s broad principles for urban programming (Part 4)
• Sets out WaterAid’s key urban minimum commitments (Part 5)
• Provides guidance for translating these principles and commitments into practice (Parts 6 and 7)
