Transit Oriented Development at a Corridor Scale (Facilitated)

About this course: Transit oriented development (TOD) is a powerful cross-cutting urban planning strategy to achieve sustainable urban form through integrating land use and transport. It promotes compact, mixed use and income, pedestrian- and bike friendly development organized around mass transit stations in a metropolitan area. By taking this course, practitioners should be well equipped to explain the rationale of TOD at a corridor scale, apply and explain key principles, analyze the starting point and local context for such corridor, identify the necessary building blocks to implement such TOD corridor approach, outline the sequence of steps for implementation and the corresponding building blocks, and monitoring and evaluating the results.
