CPWD_ accessible developmentThis document gives guidelines and solutions for accessibility in a built environment. It is designed both as a working tool to provide a common point of reference and as a means to increase the awareness of the needs of people with disabilities and the elderly. Practical low cost solutions to retro-fitting existing buildings are discussed, as well as the methods used to assess the suitability of an existing building, to improve access for disabled people. Specific products and designs are illustrated and discussed It is anticipated that design professionals, the building industry, government, the community as a whole will take these guidelines and implement them and will go a long way in creating awareness about the importance of Barrier Free Built Environment and help Professionals in this field as an effective guide.
