The Government of India along with like-minded partner countries have conceived the International Solar Alliance as a coalition of 121 solar resource rich countries lying within the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn with the objective of harnessing solar energy that these countries are endowed with. This Study highlights that capacity building, financial cooperation, and technological development remains the key to the success of this Alliance, and discusses possible strategies towards capturing the true potential of solar energy in these countries. The Study has also made an effort towards preparing a ‘Cooperation Matrix’ and has outlined various financing models that could be explored among member countries, going forward.
