Welcome to SmartCode

Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs (MoHUA) intends to develop the Open Smart code repository for various source codes on urban applications to promote urban governance. Smart Code Repository is an open platform to leverage a vast network of developers across the country focused on serving the software development demands of cities. This initiative will lower the barriers of participation and access, making it possible for cities in solving urban challenges across the entire urban geography using the developed code. The platform will ensure faster development cycles and increase the opportunities for faster product development and decision making.

Hosted on Government of India's Opencode Platform

The objective of the OpenForge platform is to promote sharing and reuse of e-governance application source code. In 2015, the Ministry of Electronics & IT, Government of India rolled out the "Policy On Collaborative Application Development by Opening the Source Code of Government Applications", which provides a framework for archiving government custom developed source code in repositories and opening these repositories for promoting reuse, sharing and remixing. By opening the source code, the Government wants to encourage collaborative development between Government departments / agencies and private organizations, citizens and developers to spur the creation of innovative e-governance applications and services.
