Orientation Training Programme on Urban Administration: Government of NCT Delhi

The Indian Institute of Public Administration is organizing Orientation Training Programme on Urban Administration from August 10-12, 2016. The Programme is sponsored by the Department of Urban Development, Government of National Capital territory of Delhi, New Delhi.

Providing basic services (e.g. water supply, sewerage, urban transport) to households and build amenities in cities which will improve the quality of life for all, especially the poor and the disadvantaged has been made a national priority in recent times. The AMRUT mission has been launched by the government of India to rejuvenate the urban sector governance.

Towards making the mission successful and effective, Capacity Building and a set of Reforms have been included in the Mission. Reforms aims at the  improvement in service delivery, mobilization of resources and making municipal functioning more transparent and functionaries more accountable, while Capacity Building intends to  empower municipal functionaries and lead to timely completion of projects.

Senior /Middle level functionaries/ officials -who are involved in the preparation of notes /strategy papers and disseminate skills and implementation of urban development schemes from Ministry of Urban Development, Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi

The objectives of the Orientation training programme are

1. To enhance the capacity on new urban initiatives like AMRUT, Smart City, Housing for All etc.
2.  To identify ‘Norms’ for good urban governance in the overall context of emerging trends in urban sector in India.
3. To examine the status of urban governance at city level on the basis of respective norms.
4. To analyse the innovations emerging at different levels of actions to strengthen urban governance to effectively meet challenges of urbanisation.
5. To prepare a list of take away points to improve the urban governance at city level.
