Smart Cities are built around communities and we must leverage technology to improve quality of life, economic ability and sustainability. There is also a need to create an environment for inclusivity, foster innovation and implement data driven local governance.
With a renewed focus on Atma Nirbhar Bharat, National Urban Digital Mission (NUDM) was launched by the Ministry for Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) to streamline and coordinate efforts of the urban ecosystem and thus to improve the ease of living for citizens by creating a national urban digital ecosystem that delivers accessible, inclusive, efficient and citizen centric governance in India’s 4400 towns and cities.
This can be achieved by developing and incorporating standards, which then act as a catalyst to set benchmarks for on-going and future smart cities developments in India.
