Cities and The Sustainable Development Goal 11

The report on Cities and Sustainable Development Goal 11 is a detailed study on the Sustainable Development Goal 11 of making cities sustainable and inclusive. The report fulfills two purposes:

(i) To establish a methodology for assessing sustainable urbanisation – Goal 11 – entailing selection of indicators, collection of data, determination of an index formula, and construction of an index (G-11 Index as it is referred to in this report), and advancing the methodology to an estimation of sustainability gaps and simulations to work out the rate of change that may be needed to achieve the SDG targets by 2030 and

(ii) To underline the need for a data system that would permit a comprehensive assessment of SDG 11, including those targets that have a qualitative orientation.

The report is published by the Centre for Urban Studies (Institute of Social Sciences), New Delhi.
