Will I be paid a stipend for the fellowship?

A consolidated amount of Rs. 60,000 per month per Fellow, inclusive of local transport allowance, will be paid to India Smart Cities Fellows. Fellows will be allowed Travel and Dearness Allowances based on approved norms of the Fellowship.

What will be the duration of the fellowship program?

The period of engagement will be one year. This engagement may be extended up to one additional year on the basis of the Fellows’ performance, with approval of the Mission Director (Smart Cities Mission).

When can I apply for the program?

Applications are invited in a prescribed format online via this webpage. This application will be open to the general public for up to 45 days. In 2020, the application is expected to be floated in the last quarter of the year, for the cohort of 2021-22.

What will be my place of posting?

The Fellows will be deployed in New Delhi till their projects are finalized. Post that, the Fellows may be required to be stationed in any of the Smart Cities as per requirement. The decision of the project city will rest on the Mission Director (Smart Cities Mission).

I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree. Am I eligible to apply for the program?

No. Candidates eligible for the Fellowship should have any of the following qualifications: Graduates with 1st Division or minimum 60% marks; or, Post Graduates with 1st Division or minimum 60% marks; or, PhDs from premier institutions/universities.

What are different ways of applying for the program?

You can only apply online in the prescribed format through the application form floated on this webpage. No other form of application shall be accepted.

What document is required to be submitted with my application?

The specifics will be mentioned in the application form.

Is there an age limit to be eligible for the program?

The maximum age of the candidate should not be more than 35 years as on the last date of receiving the applications.

What is the selection procedure and how will I be informed of my selection?

Applications will be invited in a prescribed format online, via this webpage. This application will be open to the general public for up to 45 days. The applications will undergo the necessary scrutiny via checks for de-duplication and ineligibility and will be marked based on pre-decided criteria for educational qualification, prior research experience, and work experience provided, along with a Statement of Purpose and a Concept Proposal requested in the online application. The final selection of candidates will be done via personal interviews. Only shortlisted candidates are intimated through email.

Would there be an option of part time engagement or Work from Home available for the Fellowship program?

India Smart Cities Fellowship Programme is a full-time engagement with the Smart Cities Mission. Work from Home or part-time engagement options is not available within the programme.
