In the process of rolling out the Smart City Plan, proactive steps are being taken by Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC), Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) and Bhubaneswar Smart City Ltd (BSCL) to engage a wide range of organisations, institutions and most importantly the citizens in the entire process to achieve the specified goals of the Smart City Plan. Bhubaneswar Development Authority has partnered with United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) with the aim to develop an integrated and synergistic model for social interventions through scientific planning, and community engagement. The proposed intervention will help in achieving some of the measurable impacts outlined in the Smart City proposal like improving public service delivery through citizen-centric approach, reducing vulnerabilities, promoting social cohesion by increasing opportunities for citizen engagement, women empowerment, decreasing social inequalities and safety of citizens, especially children, women and elderly and make Bhubaneswar a Socially Smart City.
BSCL invites Expression of Interest (EoI) from experienced NGOs to conduct community based activities in slums in the Bhubaneswar Jurisdiction Area under the ‘Smart City’ interventions and the services of the selected NGO/s shall be utilized by BSCL and other authorities from time to time depending on the prioritized slum development interventions.
