The United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat) in collaboration with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), Government of India have jointly launched the Sustainable Cities Integrated Approach Pilot (SCIAP) Project in India. The broad objective is to support cities by showcasing mechanisms to integrate sustainability strategies into urban planning and provision of municipal services so as to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and create a favorable environment for investment in infrastructure and service delivery. The project is being piloted with the municipal corporations of Bhopal, Jaipur, Mysore, Guntur and Vijayawada. To support these municipal corporations with sustainability planning and low carbon investments in municipal services, UNIDO and UN-Habitat are establishing city cells at each corporation. This is a call for suitable candidates for the positions to be placed at city cell:

Urban Technology and Investment Specialist

The Urban Planner is expected to support improvements in people-centred, low carbon and resilient urban planning. The Urban Technology and Investment Specialist is expected to support technology assessment and selection and implementation of low carbon pilot projects in the broad areas of waste, water and waste management. Relevant advanced university degree combined with a minimum of five years professional experience in urban planning and/or technology are required. Good command of English is required and solid knowledge of local language in duty station stands highly recommended.
