Learnings from Pune's Walk and Cycle Analysis

Today, when most cities are planning a citywide walking and cycling scale-up, it is critical to assess and reflect on the usability, accessibility and safety of these infrastructures. Are people even using the infrastructure to its maximum potential? If not, then what are the factors deterring them from doing so? And lastly, is there any scope for intervention or improvement to get them back “on track”?

This presentation highlights Pune’s journey to answer these questions through the “Pune’s Walk and Cycle Analysis” conducted by ITDP in collaboration with Pune Municipal Corporation in 2022. Through Pune’s example, the presentation outlines a brief guide for cities that wish to initiate street assessments.
