To improve the quality of life of infants, toddlers, and their caregivers (ITCs), Hyderabad aims to improve their safe access to public spaces, health and education, and green, playful neighbourhood parks.

About the Neighbourhood

Maqta, Khairtabad is a neighbourhood that has high concentrations of young children and caregiver population, making it an ideal neighbourhood to plan interventions. The neighbourhood presents many opportunities as it contains city level public spaces that are frequented by young children and their caregivers . The selected priority zone is on NTR Marg with high footfall of ITCs, creating a public realm for children around the Tank bund area.

In May, five pilot projects and proposed key interventions in Maqta ward were presented to the authorities. Site visits were conducted on the NTR Marg, NTR Garden, and Sanjeeviah Park. Currently, the team is working on designing solutions to make the neighbourhood safe, convenient and accessible for Infants, Toddlers and Caregivers (ITCs).
