Bringing financial and technical support to Smart Cities projects

In 2017, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) supported by the National Institute of Urban Affairs (NIUA) and the French Agency for Development (AFD), developed the CITIIS (City Investments To Innovate, Integrate and Sustain) program. This initiative aims at fostering sustainable, innovative and participatory approaches within the Smart Cities Mission.

Under this program, up to 15 projects will be selected through a challenge process based on eligibility criteria and specific values. The CITIIS program will focus on projects related to sustainable mobility, urban e-governance and ICT, public open spaces and social innovation for low-income settlements.

Selected projects and SPVs will be part of a unique experimentation laboratory helping to highlight and address specific issues faced by SPVs across India in developing innovative approaches for urban projects. They will receive financial and technical support over a period of 3 years for the preparation and implementation of the selected projects.

Financial Support and Technical Expertise

Technical support to SPVs from international experts

The selected SPVs will benefit from a 3-year technical assistance with international and national expertise for the preparation and implementation of the selected projects. Moreover, the CITIIS program will give them access to a global network of cities and practitioners to share their experiences and build city to city cooperation.

CITIIS Grant: 20 to 80 Cr. for each of the 15 selected cities

Each awarded projects will receive support ranging from INR 20 to 80 Cr each, including for example additional studies, evaluation and monitoring system (E&Ms), remuneration of key expertise for innovation in the project, experimentation and cost of implementation and equipment.
